The purposes for which we use your personal data
The information we collect about you will be used for the purpose(s) of service delivery including:
- making payments to individuals and service providers
- collecting direct debits to settle invoices issued to individuals for services provided by, or on behalf of, Cyngor Sir Ceredigion County Council
- Payroll
- Claims handling
- Procurement
- Financial assessments
- awarding grants
- maintaining our own accounts and records
The lawful basis for the processing of your information is as detailed in paragraphs 1 b) and 1 c) of Article 6 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UKGDPR), as detailed below:
- Public task - “…processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller”.
- Contract - “…processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract.”

To provide this service, we collect information directly from you but also receive information from the following sources:

- Credit referencing agencies
- HM Courts and Tribunals Service
- Banks and building societies
- Central Government and other Local Authorities
- Insurance Brokers and Insurance Companies
- Professional advisers including legal firms, solicitors and barristers
- Referees
- Web-based information sources, for example Sell2Wales; Companies House
Transferring your information abroad
Your information may be transferred overseas via publication in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).
We do this in order to satisfy EU Procurement Regulations in respect of Notices of Contract Award. This only applies to data relating to successful applicants/suppliers in relation to contract opportunities advertised in the OJEU.
