Support for Carers
Unpaid carers look after friends or family members who cannot manage on their own because they have an illness, poor health, disability, mental health issue or an addiction.
Sometimes carers live with the person that they care for, but carers can also provide support from a distance.
Unpaid carers can be of any age, carers under 18 are called young carers.
Parent carers care for children with a disability or life-limiting illness.
People who look after children without a disability or work in care are not considered to be unpaid carers.
