Domestic Abuse is when your partner or close family member abuses you physically, financially, emotionally, sexually or psychologically.

It also includes stalking and harassment. It can be one incident but is usually a pattern of behaviour. If you feel intimidated by or frightened of your partner or close family member to the point where you feel that you have to change your behaviour to cope with things then you may be experiencing domestic abuse.

Sexual violence includes child sexual abuse, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, prostitution, female genital mutilation and rape. Whenever it happens, whether it is a one-off or is repeated, if it is against your will it is not acceptable.

If you feel that your partner or close family member is intimidating you, if you are scared of how your partner or close family member reacts to things, agencies are available to help you.

However, if it is an emergency you should call the police on 999.
