The latest on the weather in Ceredigion

The gritters have been out overnight treating the pre-salting routes but drivers should still take care as recent hail/snow/rain showers have made conditions treacherous. The gritters are out on the roads again, patrolling and responding to issues as they arise.

Other Voices Cardigan celebrates record attendances on its most successful edition to date

Other Voices Cardigan 2024 producers’ reported record figures across the event's fifth edition earlier this month. The three-day event, which ran from 31 October to 02 November, attracted thousands of music fans to the coastal town of Cardigan, immersing themselves in a curated programme celebrating music, friendship, language, ideas and culture from both sides of the Irish Sea and beyond.

Single Transferable Vote system rejected

At a special Council meeting held on 14 November 2023, Ceredigion Councillors voted against the adoption of the Single Transferable Vote (STV) for Ceredigion County Council local elections.

Aberystwyth Justice Centre sentences two for severe animal welfare violations

On 06 November at Aberystwyth Justice Centre, Ms. Rosie Crees and Mr. John Morgan were sentenced for 8 offences each under the Animal Welfare Act 2006. They failed to meet the needs of over 500 sheep across two holdings. The sheep were deprived of a continuous supply of fresh, clean drinking water. Additionally, the sheep suffered from untreated lameness, a painful condition that affects their ability to walk and graze. Many were kept in sheds with accumulations of manure of several feet, to the extent the animals heads were touching the shed roof.
